The use of medication is highly recommended as this treats not only their addiction, but it also reduces overdose risk and the risk of death. These mediations include Suboxone, but also monthly injections with Sublocade or VivItrol. I believe that patients who have struggled to stay sober and continue on the painful pattern of relapses and remissions clearly deserve a treatment plan which includes medication.
